On March 3, 1999, a group of Universal Screw Machine Co. (USM) employees successfully completed the course, INTERNAL AUDITING: Mini-Audits For Maximum Results. The course was conducted by John Novak and Ray DePuy, both from KAVON International, Inc.
During the eight (8) hour course, the students were introduced to the concept of internal auditing, its importance to USM in maintaining its ISO 9002 registration, and their role as auditors to monitor compliance. They also participated in a number of exercises that reinforced the concepts being taught. Finally, all of the students participated as a member of an audit team and audited some actual USM procedures that are in use at the company.
The students expressed a genuine enthusiasm for the benefits internal auditing will bring to USM and the knowledge they will gain by auditing areas of the company that are outside of their responsibility. Congratulations are in order for all of these USM students.
