KAVON has developed an approach to Failure Mode & Effects Analysis that integrates tools of Six Sigma. This approach identifies process variables that drive performance and carry the greatest risk of failure. This course includes both lecture and classroom experience with realistic exercises, and it can be customized to include facilitated team preparation of real FMEAs based on the participants’ processes.

What Attendees Will Learn
This course will enable quality planners – in manufacturing, in service industries, in healthcare – to execute FMEAs that are highly effective in managing risk and that are highly efficient in the use of planners’ time. Participants in this course can expect to gain a comprehensive understanding of the FMEA as a tool for preventive action.
They will learn how to describe processes and identify the process input variables. They will master tools for ranking input variables to identify the “Red Xs” – the variables that dominate process performance. They will see how risk priority numbers – RPNs – can be determined by the assignment of numerical value to failure mode severity, occurrence, and detection.
Though determination of risk is important, it is only a method for focusing preventive action resources on the issues of greatest importance. Course participants will learn how to apply a multi-disciplinary team approach to address and reduce the failure modes with highest risk.
