Technical Session:
"Demystifying Capability Indexes, Part 2"
Back by your request, Bob Skillman will continue his February presentation on this topic. In the first offering on February 18, we covered Capability Indexes including Pp, Ppk, Cp, and Cpk. We covered the mathematical differences and how the two can be played against each other to clearly understand the voice of the process and pick up on subtle changes. We only briefly touched on the impact of "Special Causes" on capability indexes.
Bob will continue by discussing:
- Look deeper regarding the effect of Special Causes
- Understand the impact of non-normal distributions when attempting capability analysis
- Review some of the typical causes for non-normal distributions
- Consider several of the recommended remedies for Special Causes and non-normal distributions, as they would apply to the mathematical models used in capability analysis
- Answer questions regarding capability analysis
